Follows the usual format of its predecessors: a collection of journal-article summaries with annotations by the editors of the Year Book that give perspective to the summarized articles. Chapters are organized by types of clinical problems and techniques rather than by clinical specialties (medicine, pediatrics, and so on) or organ systems. This book is consise and well illustrated. It is a quick read and hits every aspect of critical care despite that is was written primarily with the surgical resident in mind. Another excellent book is House Officer Guide to ICU Care by Elefteriades. This book though out of print, will make you instantly very sophisticated.
